Private markets belong beside the liquid book

Illiquid allocations fail when they are sold as a catalogue. They work when they are sized against liquidity the client already has.

Private markets belong beside the liquid book

Private equity, private credit and real assets are not a second firm. They are a sleeve, available only where eligibility, concentration and holding period make sense.

Start with what cannot be locked up

Before any private-markets conversation, the liquid book and operating cash need a job. A family that still runs a company, or a sponsor that still has a fund to call, cannot treat every dollar as a ten-year commitment.

Aegis1 Capital treats private markets as an allocation decision inside a mandate, not as a product to be placed. That is why the same coverage team owns both the liquid portfolio and any illiquid sleeve.

Qualified does not mean suitable

Some strategies are available only to professional, accredited or institutional clients. That legal gate is not the same as a recommendation. Concentration, vintage and fees still have to fit the rest of the book.

Offering documents control. Website copy does not. If a conversation outruns the paperwork, stop and wait for the documents.

Reporting has to read across sleeves

A private commitment that cannot be seen next to public holdings is an operational failure. Client access and coverage notes should make the whole portfolio readable, including capital calls that have not yet been funded.
